Gooseneck State Park, Utah
Looking out over the ‘entrenched meander’ of the San Juan River, one of the most spectacular views in all of southern Utah.
Formed over the course of more than 300 years, this rare geological formation sees the San Juan River twist and turn through a series of tight curves or ‘goosenecks’. The canyon formed by the river is 1000 feet deep and such is the winding nature of its course that the river actually flows for six miles between points just one and half miles apart. This photograph captures the majestic nature and rich colors of this natural wonder.
